Characterization and ageing
for R&D, Analysis and Quality Control

From an advanced understanding of dispersions (in)stability to
the dispersion state measurement & mean particle size calculation.
The Turbiscan LAb is the new generation of instruments in the Turbiscan range.
This instrument, existing in three versions, features new performances to characterize
concentrated dispersions without dilution.
This is a perfect tool for formulation help, analysis and quality control purposes.
Operates on emulsions, suspensions and foams
- Up to 95 % v/v concentrated
- From 5nm to 1 mm particle size

Scan mode

The Turbiscan LAb reading head acquires
transmission and backscattering data every 40 µm
while moving along the 55 mm cell height.
The acquisition along the product is then repeated with a programmable frequency to obtain a superimposition of product profiles characterising, whether they are identical or not, the stability or instability of the product.

The Turbiscan LAb range comes complete with an integral bar code reader and thermo-regulation allowing measurements to be carried out at controlled temperatures, from +5 °C above the ambient to +60 °C.

Flocculation Creaming

Coalescence Sedimentation

The Turbiscan LAb offers the possibility to accelerate and document ageing tests.
In this regard, variations in particle size due to coalescence or flocculation can be monitored via the kinetics giving changes of the particle mean diameter over time. Migrations of the particles leading to sedimentation or creaming are analysed by direct and easy calculation of the migration velocity and the thickness of the sediment or cream phases.

Scan mode

The Turbiscan LAb reading head acquires transmission and backscattering data at a chosen position in the sample cell.
Measured data can be seen on the Turbiscan LAb visual display and stored on the PC through the software.

It offers the possibility to carry out a measurement
at one point in order to give a rapid signature (sample fingerprint) of the product being analysed. Immediate quality control, without dilution of the concentrated dispersions, is therefore possible, ensuring that the product meets the required specifications in terms of particle size and/or concentration.
